"Sommarsnö" is a Swedish word, meaning "Summer Snow." I composed these two tracks back in 2022. They were originally composed as piano pieces, which is why I also wanted to release the piano versions as stand-alone tracks, to share the initial vision and character of the pieces. Building upon the piano recordings, I expanded the sonic palette by adding analog synths, strings, and brass for Sommarsnö, Pt. 1. I carefully incorporated these elements to avoid overshadowing the piano arrangements. I multitrack recorded the strings myself, and Tobias Grenholm played the trumpet and flugelhorn. When creating this EP, I approached the piano in a more technical manner, first establishing patterns and then crafting melodies. The piano parts were recorded without layering, as I prefer to play as much as possible "live," without needing to add parts afterward. "Sommarsnö" is also the name of a small, white flower, a vigorously growing variety of forest clematis.
