Levi (Immersive Live Session)

Levi (Immersive Live Session)

Patrik Berg Almkvisth (LUCHS), a neo-classical and ambient composer from Stockholm returns to his album Solskur from 2020 by presenting live versions of three of the pieces from the original release. This live session is recorded at Immersive Studios (former Abbey Road, Stockholm). The original album is written and arranged for orchestra and was recorded together with parts of Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. These live recordings have been re-arranged for string quartet and a grand piano. The original album is an hommage to Patriks mother who passed away from cancer in 2019. The first single, "Levi," is dedicated to my best friend's firstborn son with the same name. It is meant to capture a child's innocent and hopeful view of the world, embodying the endless expectations and unspoiled dreams. At the heart of the recording is the open grand piano, carrying the melody. The piece begins with a softly played nostalgic theme and gradually transforms into the second, more lively part, focused on a continuous arpeggio with impressionistic modes. The piano is delicately held and floats on the waves of the string quartet.
