Laughter from the Other Room

Laughter from the Other Room

Wingtip is Nick Perloff-Giles, a San Francisco singer-songwriter, based in LA by way of Brooklyn. Once operating under the moniker as a DJ, Wingtip organically morphed as an artist, giving his sound the space to progress in the process through an instinctive fusion of pop, alternative, electronic, and rock. Gathering over 100 million streams globally and packing shows, he continues to evolve on his 2023 EP for Nettwerk Music Group and much more to come. His last EP "Get Well Soon" focused on themes of beginning a relationship: dating, the awkward moments and the different ways relationships exist and can change and included features from artists such as Paul Russell and Bre Kennedy. He's been previously supported throughout his career across DSP with editorial support on Spotify (Indiedisko, Feel Good Indie, and more) and Apple Music (Staying In, Wake Me Up! and more) as well as at tastemaker press including Wonderland, Clash, Billboard and many more. Laughter from the Other Room is about endings - about breakups and closure and moving on to something else. I wrote it in the aftermath of a breakup, and the EP traces all the related feelings, from nostalgia with "There You Are" to indifference with "Boyfriend" to anger with "Last to Know." It's also just about wondering what's on the other side of disappointment - I tried to keep a lot of the songs optimistic in the face of obvious reasons not to be, so a lot of the production is upbeat even if the lyrics are a little down. I hope in listening you can feel the spectrum of emotions associated with endings.
