The band followed in the footsteps of Black Flag and the Circle Jerks, and were a prominent and popular act amongst the Los Angeles punk underground of the early 1980s. The band's first EP was released under the name L.A.'s Wasted Youth. For all subsequent releases, the band shortened their name to just Wasted Youth. The band was mostly inactive/on hold between December 1983 and late 1984, but it was never officially split-up.
