Berlin-based US artist Ulla Straus has become an essential part of the ambient avant-garde thanks to her compositions around electroacoustics and experimental jazz. Ulla defends algorithmic textures that oscillate between detailed ambient and jazzy electronic music. Her sound is neither monotone nor linear, but deploys infinite cuts, effects and keys to create one of the most interesting and original ambient works released in recent years. The resulting sound collage feels like a dream where you wander from place to place, not really knowing where you are, and yet there is an incredible harmony and coherence.
