Sobre Spuds

Justin and Zen is a Malaysia-based DJ, songwriting, and producer duo. They met back in 2015 through their mutual passion for making good music and has never looked back since. Since then, they put out a handful of remixes and originals, with one release of note being a future bass remix of emerging Malaysian talent Talitha Tan’s hit song “Okay”, which garnered streams in excess of 170,000 on Spotify towards the end of 2017. In early 2017, their collaboration with popular Malaysian DJ duo BATE on a remix of Nik Qistina’s “Young Hearts” is equally well received by the masses, taking listeners on an emotional journey through their signature style of future and melodic bass, and helped propel their reputation further in the Malaysian electronic music scene. To add icing on the cake, their bootleg remix of “Paris” by The Chainsmokers in early 2017 was picked and featured on one of the largest online electronic dance music publication, YourEDM.com, as one of the best remixes of the song. Their most recent releases, “Get Higher” and "Man Down", showcased the duo’s dynamism and willingness to delve into contrasting styles, vastly different from their earlier works. With gritty lines and hard in-your-face leads, the song is a hybrid of orchestral strings and NGHTMRE-esque trap, and is inspired by the duo’s struggles on a personal level. Barely a month since release, the song has been featured on Spotify’s “Bass Face” and “Friday Cratediggers” playlist, and is gaining strong stream counts in the thousands daily. They are always refining their musical and production style, expanding their repertoire of skills and constantly pushing their limits in every possible aspect. With many more songs currently in the works, expect even more quality originals from them in 2018 and beyond. If you are looking for an up and rising electronic dance music artist, especially from the Asian region, Spuds is the name you want to keep track of.
