Some of the band members joined Death Row in the early 1980s. Along with Saint Vitus, Trouble, and Witchfinder General, Pentagram is considered one of the first true doom metal bands, influenced by Black Sabbath. Pentagram was quite prolific in the underground scene of the 1970s, producing many demos and rehearsal tapes, but did not release their first album until 14 years after forming.
