Acerca de Gigatrón

Country of origin: Spain Location: Valencia, Valencian Community Status: Active Formed in: 1997 Genre: Heavy/Speed Metal Themes: Heavy Metal parody, Rock stars, Alcohol, Lust Current label: Unsigned/independent Years active: 1997-1999, 2005-2006, 2012-present, 2016-present (as Gigatrín) Alternatively known as Gigatrín when playing for children, since 2016. Formed by members of avant-garde/alternative, former death metal band, Chococrispis and indie-rock band Furious Planet in 1997 as a mockery of '80s heavy metal and glam/hard rock clichés. The original line-up included Charly Glamour, Mike Ferralla, Frank el Tachas and Miki Muñón. The band recorded a demo tape in 1997, later re-worked and released as CD the year after. Muñón's nickname was changed to Bestia Indomable as a veiled reference to Bella Bestia’s drummer (who did play masked, much in Thunderstick’s fashion). Toured Spain between 1998 and 1999 with Salfumán el Turbio as masked drummer and faded away. It was reactivated in mid-2005 to record and release Mar de cuernos with Mazinger Molina as bass player (and Ferralla as guitar player). Vinnie the Butcher was added to the line-up after recording and releasing the album. A subsequent tour was intended but finally cancelled in January 2006 and Gigatron split up due to personal obligations of some band members. Reactivated again in 2012 with Charly Glamour, Mike Ferralla (again as bass player), Mazinger Molina (now as drummer) and Dave Demonio on guitar. Between 2012 and 2013 they recorded and released Atopeosis 666 (2014) and its previous singles while touring Spain. Mazinger Molina left the band in mid-2014 and Gigatrón kept on touring with then live member Johnny Cochambre. He was ascended to band member in February 2017 when they were about to release The Aluminium Paper Album. Right then they had added Enrique Mompó to the line-up as the “fifth element”, playing bass instead of Mike Ferralla, who keeps on being a full right member of the band.
