You Are

You Are

You Are (featuring Saro) was the result of prestigious ambient electronic artist The Album Leaf collaborating with the Nigerian dance duo the Ebinum Brothers (known for GAP & Motorola campaigns as well as appearing on stage at Glastonbury 2022 with Kendrick Lamar.) Jimmy LaValle explains how the song came about. "I was sitting in a park while my kids were riding their bikes when I received a message from the Ebinum brothers on Instagram. I was surprised as I had just come across their beautiful dance videos. They’re two young brothers from Lagos, Nigeria. I said I would love to collaborate with you, they said they had an idea for a short film and asked if I would create a song for it. They sent me the storyboard with the words, You are strong, you are perfect, you are not alone. When writing the song, I wanted to create something full of emotion, confidence and strength. I reached out to my frequent collaborators, Clarice Jensen to add Cello, Jake Falby for violin, James McAlister to add more synth textures and then, Saro to sing. I met Saro a couple years earlier, we spent a day in the studio together and I loved his voice and delivery. His vocal sits beautifully within the music. All of these incredible players collaborating truly captured the message the Ebinum Brothers and I wanted to share."
