Bestfriend was half-formed through a mutual friend and half-formed through Instagram DMs in 2018. The indie-pop duo is a culmination of two young artists, Stacy Kim and Kaelan Geoffrey, making music from thousands of miles apart; Stacy in the west, Kaelan in the east. The band released a pair of EPs places i’ve lived and places i’ve left in 2021 and 2023. The project received accolades from the likes of Under The Radar, EARMILK, Exclaim! and The Line of Best Fit. Describing their single, “YOU LOOK JUST LIKE ME” Stacy and Kaelan say, "It's a song about how we mirror traits of all of the people we've ever loved— for better or for worse. It’s a song about identity (or lack thereof), the fear of change, and the acceptance that we're always going to depend on other people to help us figure out who we are whether we like it or not". With dreamy synths and a rhythm-leaning bass, Stacy's lead vocals explore the intricate connections we have with others, highlighting how we reflect their traits and experiences while navigating our identities and the inevitable influence of those we love.
