What Carries Us

What Carries Us

Hollie Kenniff is an Canadian-American vocalist and composer. Her debut album, "The Gathering Dawn", was released in 2019. Her sophomore LP, "The Quiet Drift", was released in July 2021 and "We All Have Places That We Miss" in 2023. She has collaborated with husband Keith Kenniff (aka Helios, Goldmund) on the dreampop/electronic project, Mint Julep, since 2007. The final single before her upcoming LP, For Forever, Hollie Kenniff delivers with ambient single "What Carries Us". It's an emotional and immersive listening experience from start to finish, feeling like soaring through the clouds with a new set of wings. Piano-driven and minimalistic and touching, complete with a sweeping build-up, this is one to hold us over until the LP is out next month on December 6. "I feel like there is a growing community of women in ambient/experimental music," says Hollie, "and also a growing community in general that are more open to instrumental music. I would like to see women being more of an organic part of the community; it still feels somewhat separate. Women have a lot of unique things to say within these genres and I think that we are on the precipice of injecting new life into music by more inclusion of more diversity."
