Their first release, Yersinia Pestis, took its name from the Latin term for the bacteria that caused the ultra-deadly Black Plague (also known as the Black Death) in Europe in the 14th century -- a pandemic so catastrophic that, according to historians, it claimed the lives of at least one-third of Europe's population during the outbreak between 1347 and 1351 (some estimates put the number at more like two-thirds). And Torchbearer's second album, Warnaments, was inspired by the sea battle of Jutland during World War I.
