This album is high energy, hard-edged instrumental prog. Think of Dream Theater, but with more of a neo-classical edge. It has a tendency to get quite accessible at times, but not to the point of taking away from the quality. Instead, this tendency actually makes the disc a more entertaining one. Katsionis has created some very intriguing song structures and arrangements. Not only that, but he can really play. According to the liner notes, he is nearly unaccompanied here. Only a bassist by the name of Jimmy B. is mentioned. Katsionis seems equally talented on both guitar and keys. The keys occasionally even take on a Keith Emerson-ish texture. Although most of the disc is in a fast-paced and nearly furious tone, he also shows the restraint and sense to bring it down to create drama and interest. All in all, this is a great album showcasing a fine musical talent.
