Our new digital album comes from the hands and mind of a very young and talented creator from the Basque Country, Asier Morillas, also known as A4. In his relatively short career he has managed to release in some of the key labels in the sci fi techno realm such as Jeff Mills’ Axis Records, Faut Section, Illegal Alien or SUB_tl to name but a few. He is one example of passion about music production, developing his skills studying with the best teachers, putting his money and time into perfecting anything audio or gear related, taking his time slowly to create a quality musical output. We noticed him early on his path, and followed his progress until luckily he sent us a formidable demo comprising no less than 20 tracks. This album is the result of a careful selection after playing his demo all over the planet in the best clubs and festivals. Music wise, Asier dives deep into the alien and outer space sounds of the future, with a minimalistic approach on the sonic components using only what is needed with efficiency as leitmotiv. During this eleven track journey, he starts completely beatless and bleepy on the intro tune No Gravity, going subtly into the groove with Axis of Rotation, dynamically using the 909 sounds as a virtual jazz drummer combined with asymmetrical sequences and textures. Between the Stars continues the journey, again with extremely complex drum programming, bleeps, drones and old scifi movie vocal samples. Floating Free brings exactly what the title suggests and Polaris goes shuffled and deconstructed until Kynosoura and Eternally return to the alien dancehall. The North Star, Spectral and Vega bring back the flotation and non gravity feel also focusing on the groove and the dance while Year 2100 finishes the space journey in a solid manner, showcasing his personal mixture of complex rhythms, skillful arrangement and sonic mastery. An absolute delight to have such a talented person onboard and we are sure this is just the beginning of a solid career in this sometimes overloaded business.
