Hologram Teen is the solo project (and anagram) of former Stereolab keyboardist Morgane Lhote. Her colourful playful electronic instrumentals are heavily influenced by horror soundtracks, Italian disco and hip-hop. Initially from Paris, Morgane moved to London when she was 20, spent nearly 20 years in New York city before moving to LA where she concentrated on her solo material. Her most recent album ‘Day-Glo Chaos’ released on Ransom Note Records was an unashamed nostalgic musical love letter to the 1980’s mixing cinematic strings, French Pop, video game soundtracks, a dash of drum and bass and vocoder vocals. Her new single for Happy Robots is a double A-side. A side “The Restless Cyclops” layered with synth strings, electric piano and bell sounds, is impossible to pigeonhole, it’s full spectrum pop-music that we can only describe as ‘restless disco’. And flip over the disc to the AA side ‘Hologram Twang!’ and Morgane introduces flourishes from another genre she loves; country music. Atmospheric washes combine with synth chimes and electronic slide-guitar. This could almost be the soundtrack to the opening of the pearly gates for another country legend, to be at eternal peace from perpetual heartache. As Hologram Teen, Morgane has been featured by the likes of Huffington Post, Electronic Sound Magazine, Torched Magazine, Impose, Louder Than War and many more.
