Label boss Bruno Sanchez and the prolific Akano (formerly Rakoon and current member of the razor sharp drum and bass duo Parasite) go full existential on this two-track release. First up the title track The Pale Blue Dot, which is inspired by deep telescopic glimpses of the night sky to remind us how small and alone we are (and how we need to get our sh*t together). We'd have to call this an 'epic ambient' piece, which revolves around the important words of Carl Sagan surrounded by a palette of epic synthwork and bass. The Futile Search for Meaning also runs existential with Italian samples running over very calming and buttery drum and bass work. Our conclusion is that while the search for meaning can be frustrating and without end, let's enjoy the ride and chill on the angst.
