Edmonton-based troubadour, Martin Kerr, has been making connections with people through his music for years. Through heartfelt lyrics, delicate instrumentation and sparse production, he explores the nuances of everyday life as well as its wonders with a poetic and poignant perspective. Throughout his career, Martin has supported Sarah McLachlan during a stadium show, opened for Walk Off The Earth and shared a stage with Blue Rodeo. He’s performed with the Edmonton Symphony and graced stages in over 35 countries. Most recently, Kerr joined Dermot Kennedy on his cross-Canada tour. Martin’s live show is a wondrous showcase of his natural ability as a storyteller conveying vulnerability, adventure, hope, and authentic connections. His new song “The Moonlight” really shows his growth as a songwriter, exploring new instrumentation and more complex narratives. “I really love the mysterious yet beautiful vibe of this song, created by the layers of different guitars, tuned to different registers.” Says Kerr. “To me it sounds like the moonlight. It's an unusual love song, talking about weird dreams and fixing stuff around an old house, while somehow tying it all into the true meaning of love. When you've been with someone a long time, you have to be okay with imperfections in each other in your life and focus on the stuff that really matters.”
