The Echoes Of The Gestapo Cellar
A three-way collaboration between these sound-artists using EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena) captured at the Gestapo Cellar and the A/Z Augustaschacht in Osnabrück / Germany. Inspired by the subject matter, its result is a composition of dark and mysterious noise, manipulated field recordings, disembodied voices and echoing drones to haunt you with reminders that you may not always be alone when you think you are. Track was inspired by the story of a forced laborer from Poland who fell in love with a German woman. The lovers have been punished and tortured by the Gestapo for being "race traitors" . He was killed and his corpse was hanged up on an old tree near Osnabruck. This place is still known to be haunted. Track 5 based on the SS prison warden, Alex, a Nazi collaborator from the Ukraine, who has tortured and murdered his victims at the Augustaschacht AEL, with water insertions. The title was found after repeated listening of the transformed EVP used for this track. Photographs from the Gestapo Cellar and the Augustaschacht AEL in Osnabruck .
