One of the first lofi artists to gain traction on Soundcloud and develop the sound of the genre today, the Oatmello project blends elements of jazz, ambient, hip hop, and electronic into a dream-like, introspective experience that has accumulated over 250M streams worldwide. Envisioned as an antidote to our current world of attention-demanding media, constant notifications, and building anxiety, Oatmello sees his music as a continuation of the tradition of instrumental hip-hop, which has existed for 30 years. Classically trained in piano, Oatmello continuously explores new sounds, production techniques, and collaborations seeking to continue the evolution of the genre. Shortly after releasing the original soundtrack to his Minesweeper-inspired video game, Dreamsweeper, Oatmello returns with a more upbeat jazzhop track. "Sunlight" is a lively and vibey single, complete with saxophone and vocal samples. Properly blending electronica with jazz and lofi elements, reminiscent of Berlioz or Kiefer, Carrtoons or Braxton Cook, it's an instrumental to hold us over until Oatmello releases his full jazzhop EP next month.
