With roots in Houston, Texas, atmospheric/lo-fi artist Samuel Proffitt, grew up entrenched in various genres from screamo and punk to indie, folk, and jazz; however, his musical origins lie in his own writing, poetry, and interest in philosophy. "I wrote the instrumental for Snow in December about five years ago when I was living with my friends in a small town in the mountains of British Columbia. Their house was on the side of the mountain overlooking the basin where the center of town was located, so I would sit day and night watching the snow descend upon the cloud-covered basin. It took several years before I found a voice (both in tone and lyrically) that I felt could match the impression the music had on me over the preceding few years, but once I was introduced to Allen, things came together quite rapidly. We sat on the song for an extended period of time, waiting for something, though I still couldn’t necessarily say what. This Fall, he and I decided to finish the record, and with the help of Ariel Loh, we were able to actualize everything that we had set to accomplish with the composition from the onset: a piece that helps fix a moment in time that has long been a close companion of mine."
