Brighton based John J Presley returns after a 3 year hiatus with a new record through God Unknown. The second cut to be lifted from the collection is Silhouettes featuring Terry Edwards released on 8th September 2023. The album Chaos & Calypso is the first new music since Presley’s debut in 2019 and vinyl only lockdown release Albany Sessions which were both released to great acclaim. Rolling Stone loved it, as did the former Q Magazine which called it ‘.. a bold, striking debut’. A diary piece that echoes a period of ill health, of spiralling vertigo and misdiagnoses, Silhouettes shows Presley’s trademark guitar tone in full effect with enough space in the mix to weave in a new palette of textures from drum machines and synths throughout. The debut LP As The Night Draws In had broad support across the board from Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, John Kennedy, Cerys Mathews and Bad Seed Jim Sclavunos as well as many of the broadsheets claiming him ‘a new light in British music’ - he also plays guitar and bass for Nadine Shah, Duke Garwood, Laura Mary Carter, Juanita Stein and Smoke Fairies. Presley has recently been on the road in support of this first release with live dates across Europe and the UK with Radiohead’s Philip Selway and Gaz Coombes.
