Los Angeles based meija expertly marries Indie Pop with alt grooves, never steering away from a big hook. The nom de plume of writer/producer Jamie Sierota, the name meija is an anagram of the letters in his first name. Previous to releasing music under this moniker, he toured the world with his siblings in the band Echosmith. Side A is inspired by classic albums of the 60s and 70s, and Sierota’s desire to dive into the wanderlust of writing and producing a body of work. He embraced experimentation, recording ideas for songs and then going back to create records out of lyrics, drum loops and pieces of melodies. He embraced analog recording, layered in complex sonic textures and pursued his vision for this project from beginning to end. The result is a timeless indie-rock record that’s inspired and exciting, reflective of an artist’s ambition and experience.
