One of the tightest and most funk-loaded cuts from the Latin album, ‘Red Lights’ boasts some immensely agile and slippery basslines, rooted into place by an authoritative, yet suitably soulful drumming presence. Operating within similar parameters, ‘Dr Dr E’ drops a mighty rhythm section while wandering electronic melodies and textures populate the arrangement with a faintly psychedelic, 21st century-overhauled krautrocking feel. 　On new single ‘Red Lights’, Holy **** prove that funked-up basslines and a bit of upbeat stomp can go all the way. Swirling in light a sonic helicopter on fire, this single comes straight out of a 70s disco, all glammed up with shuffling beats. On this instrumental piece, Holy **** seem to be aiming at writing the perfect theme tune to: 1. the new A-team movie, or 2. some sort of sleazy 70s porn flick. Both prospects sound utterly intriguing, as does the tune itself.
