Psi Com

Perry Farrell's pre-Jane's Addiction vocals are interesting because he's using a much lower range. It's only on the intro to "Xiola" that a scream is unleashed that foretells of what lies ahead. The music itself is very jagged and dissonant. Vince Duran's guitar creates tones not dissimilar to Gang of Four's Andy Gill, while coaxing arpeggio melodies from the fretboard along the lines of Bauhaus. With its gothic leanings, this is an interesting album that almost acts as a blueprint for the ideas Farrell would later bring to the more advanced mysticism of Jane's Addiction's sound.
