‘Oh Child Of Mine’ is both an ode to my children and a sonnet to myself as I let go and watch them move into adulthood, taking on the world without me. Each verse is a lesson I have learned along my own path; some wisdoms & some difficult truths that I so wish I could pass on as tools and equipment for what’s ahead…but I know it doesn’t work like that. These verses are lessons my young adult children will learn for themselves. ‘Oh Child Of Mine’ is my own life story; what it has taken to grow into a person who can feel enough to care for this world, but with enough hard skin and resilience to not break completely when the falls come, as they do. The balance is a life-time’s endeavour. I hope that one day this song will serve as evidence of my love and acts as a small comfort to my children, James & Molly.
