Mr. Squirrel is the 4th release of Evgeny Grinko's new album 'Winter Moonlight' and heralds his first use of vocals, with the haunting voice of SVRCINA wordlessly floating ethereally above the instruments like a ghost. Evgeny on Mr. Squirrel: Mr. Squirrel was the name of one of my cats. He had a bushy tail like a squirrel! Unfortunately he died young and I wanted to dedicate this composition to him. The first draft of the composition which included only a piano part was put together while I was living in the forest in Russia about 7 years ago. I feel the arrangement of the tune is representative of Mr. Squirrel’s character, and helps me to preserve memories of Mr. Squirrel as he was. The idea to add wordless vocals came after the composition had been finished. I had never worked with vocals in my music before and the inspiration simply came to me one day to do it with this track. I was excited to see the results. Initially I had planned to include both a male and female voice. I sent the demo track to my publisher and she immediately thought of SVRCINA for the female part. SVRCINA did such an incredible job with both parts that it was clear no further work was needed!
