Attention all Hollywood teen-flick soundtrack compilers--the Lyte Funky One's second album, Life Is Good, is jammed-packed of tracks which will compliment any American Pie/Road Trip-type movie. Equipped with giant hooks, most of the songs have the dangerous potential to net anyone who dare listen ("Every Other Time", "Alayna" and "Where You Are"). However, as "28 Days" (with a chorus comprising of the nursery rhyme line "When the wheels of the bus go round") highlights, such palpable attempts at making a song memorable often backfire, resulting in the track becoming annoying rather than attractive. The rest of the album is taken up by a sanitised ice-white version of the teen-rock sound pioneered by the likes of Blink 182 and Wheatus ("What If" and "That's the Way it Is"). Dueting with Kelis on the second of two versions of "Dandelion" included, Brad, Rich and Devin clearly are talented guys. "6 Minutes" is also a great track in the style of The Fugees. Like adolescence though, this album is a confusing mix of hormonally infused good and bad moments. --John Galilee
