Immersive Live Sessions

Immersive Live Sessions

Patrik Berg Almkvisth (LUCHS), a neo-classical and ambient composer from Stockholm returns to his album Solskur from 2020 by presenting live versions of three of the pieces from the original release. This live session is recorded at Immersive Studios (former Abbey Road, Stockholm). The original album is written and arranged for orchestra and was recorded together with parts of Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. These live recordings have been re-arranged for string quartet and a grand piano. The original album is an hommage to Patriks mother who passed away from cancer in 2019. ”Solskur” is my attempt at saying thank you to my mother. ”The Day She Left” refers to December 8, 2019. We had carried down a piano to the room where she was laying. I played Solskur for her. A short moment later she took her last breath and embarked on her last journey. This composition is a gradually intensifying crescendo crafted around a developing string arrangement. Commencing with the cello and the viola, it steadily builds in both intensity and expression, incorporating the violins, the piano, and a warm bass from the Juno 60 synthesizer. A hopeful piece, gazing upward towards heaven.
