Half Past Us

Half Past Us

Mokita (aka John-Luke Carter), the Nashville singer-songwriter-producer known for his introspective and emotionally charged music releases "Half Past Us" Mokita says of the song: "I wrote this song with some of my favorite collaborators, Trent Dabbs and Melissa Fuller. I think from first glance the lyrics of this probably feel like a breakup song, but for me this is just about the distance and difficulties that can be felt between two people in a relationship. A lot of times in a relationship there are moments where it just feels like you can’t figure out how to fix the issue/issues and just feel stuck. I wanted to really make the production on this song simple and make it all about the vocals. Melissa Fuller was kind enough to put her vocals on this track and I think thats what makes it work so well. One thing I love that we did was put a lot of different bass parts on this track that are higher on the neck of the bass to where they sound like a guitar. Most of the production for this song was done the day we wrote the track and I think thats sort of what makes the track feel fresh to me."
