After first debuting on Coyote Records with 2021’s ‘Looney Tunes Riddim / Bill Gates’ double A-side, Lolingo is back with new single, ‘Freaky’, featuring Elf; long-time sparring partner and former member of pioneering mid-‘00s grime crew, The Square. While often revered for his skippier, breakneck grime beats, ‘Freaky’ sees Lolingo channel the warm, breezy, meditative dubstep of eras gone by, with Elf – fka Elf Kid – reeling off effortless, sweetboy lyrics with the same character and wit that first saw him breakout with certified 2015 grime anthem, ‘Golden Boy’; a track also produced by Lolingo that has since racked up over 5.5M streams across Spotify and YouTube. ‘Freaky’ also follows Elf’s vocal contribution to a special dubplate version of B:Thorough’s ‘Call To Arms’ – a standout track lifted from Thorough’s 2021 Coyote EP, ‘Raindrops’ – last autumn. ‘War’ was made available on a limited run 12” dubplate and sold-out in less than a week. With specially commissioned, hand-drawn artwork by Pyro Kid Sosa and mastered by Joker at The Mainframe, ‘Freaky’ forms the jump off point in a banner year for Coyote Records, with the label turning 10 years old this April – look out for more announcements soon.
