Beta Radio, the folk duo consisting of Ben Mabry and Brent Holloman, writes music “evoking serenity” and “emit an incandescent optimism" according to American Songwriter. On their track "Find Someone" they retreated to Nashville for a writing session and teamed up with Old Sea Brigades' Ben Cramer. What resulted is a beautiful song about slowing down and not getting caught up in the expectations you've created along the way. In Mabry's words: “You’re eating dessert, Deep in the desert where You thought you’d be happier there But that’s where you learn “ When I read back on this lyric, I think it tells the story of the song. The idea of eating dessert in the desert…it makes me think of somebody trying to find some way to feel good in a situation gone bad that they thought was going to make them happy…. And that same place also being a potent ground for self-learning and transformation. Find Someone is about thinking that you were going to find whatever it may be you’re looking for: well-being, love, peace, salvation, or whatever you want to call it outside of yourself / in somebody else…. and realizing that it won’t be found there." The song has a slow burn with a gorgeous accompaniment, highlighting acoustic guitar lines and heartfelt piano progressions.
