Family

Slumberville is a lo fi passion project from Sebastian Fronda. "I just make things that I like and things that interest me. Simplicity is key and music is first," says Sebastian. "Family" is a lo-fi sampled rendition of Radical Face's original track "Always Gold," from his album The Family Tree: The Roots. "I always move on feeling. I found this song on a “30 years Nettwerk compilation” on Spotify. Just skipped trough the “album” – what ever moved me, I gave full attention. This really grabbed my attention! The chord progress together with RF’s backing vocals really spoke to me. And the bar-count wasn’t in my usual “build a track approach” so that interested me from a technical point," recounts Sebastian. "I wanted to “downtempo” it, drum it up and pitch shift it. In that process I also didn’t want to loose RF’s great organic feel. That’s why I decided to sing the added top line melody, pitch it 12 steps up, effect (fx) it and mix the vocals so it sounds like a musical saw. I named the track “Family” – because, to me it felt like that. Realizing later that the track is a part of RF’s album: The Family Tree: The Roots."
