Los Angeles based meija expertly marries Indie Pop with alt grooves, never steering away from a big hook. The nom de plume of writer/producer Jamie Sierota, the name meija is an anagram of the letters in his first name. Previous to releasing music under this moniker, he toured the world with his siblings in the band Echosmith. Do Ya? Is a timeless indie rock album that explores Sierota’s desire to produce and record with analogue techniques, inspired by classic albums of the 60s and 70s. His lyrics are intimate and honest, and his memorable melodies capture the strength of his songwriting. For Sierota, the album is both reflective and representative of his life, but the songs also ask a much bigger question. “Do Ya?” says Sierota, “is an album about questioning what you think you know. We all have things that we feel define us or that we live by. We have questions that we feel need answers. But can you ever really know? Do you even need to?
