Born in Auckland, NZ, Alisa Xayalith is a daughter of refugees from Laos who grew up listening to big voices like Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston. These vocalists propelled Alisa to reach for big melodies and became the identifying backbone of her previous band, "The Naked and Famous". Alisa is now in a new era of life, influenced by Feist, Bone Iver, Fiona Apple, and more, as well as Japanese Breakfast, Mitski, Deb Never, Joji, Nikki and Aubrey Nuna as a huge champion of Asian artists. Coming out with her debut album, she explores love. Questioning what it means to her and how she found it in other people as well as herself, whether good or bad.
