Xian Hawkins (a.k.a. Syabrite) has grown as both a composer and producer, and this release benefits greatly from the trees-before-forest work ethic he's experienced since 2002. The attention to detail is startling, the product of spending four years on a set of songs with no specific destination in mind beforehand. "Cut Out Shape" rivals the finer moments of Four Tet, Sigur Ros, Tortoise, Mouse On Mars, and The Notwist.
