A response to the rumour mill and its constant churning, What Got Into You is a call for change - to stop the whispers circulating. It's so easy to get sucked into gossip and the latest news, but Foley are fed up with fuelling the fire, and are ready to stoke the flames. The final stop in Foley’s debut album Crowd Pleaser, is a driving indie pop anthem - with an upbeat groove and pulsing bass line. The chaotic synth swell and wall of sound coming into the classic earworm Foley chorus serves as a circuit breaker to the audience; to draw attention both sonically and lyrically. A collaboration with long time producer Josh Edmonds, the unique production style is a result of running the entire song through a guitar pedal board to see what chaos would result. A creative exploration that has been pivotal in Foley finding the more experimental sound of their debut album. Foley questions the intentions of those around them fuelling the spread of rumours “what got into you? Spreading all the new”, particularly when its someone elses story to share “talking like its your place”. It makes you wonder what is being said about your own life, and stops you connecting in case your thoughts are shared “i can’t have stories carrying on where im the feature”. By the final ramp up of the song Foley are fed up and ready to burst, tired of being on the receiving end of falsehood “don’t wanna wake up and find that I was just another lie you told”. The final piece of the puzzle to Foleys debut Crowd Pleaser is charged with an angst and energy that the pair haven’t tapped into before. What Got Into You marks the release of the long awaited album, that fans have been building to since October 2022.
