World-renowned choral director Ralph Allwood presents his touching piece of 'Consider the Lilies of the Field' with the prestigious Rodolfus Choir. Unaccompanied voices gently intensify with alluring tension and moments of warm radiance — a reminder that in times of overwhelming worry, peace lies beyond anxiety. Ralph writes: "During lockdown my beloved sister Viv lay dying and this well-known text sprang to mind... Consider the lilies of the field See how they grow See how they toil not Neither do they spin And yet I say to you That even Solomon in all his glory Was not arrayed like one of these I composed a short choral piece, within which I tried to compare the simple, subtle beauty of a flower with the grandeur of King Solomon. In dedication to Viv, we remotely recorded my little piece with the splendid Rodolfus Choir and numerous additional singers including my late sister's daughter Freya as the soprano soloist. At the end of the piece, the solo line closes with a hint of questioning, greeted by the gentle sound of birdsong to elevate us to peaceful conclusion."
