Haiku Salut and Meg Morley release new single, ‘Carousel’, on Nov 17. New film score ‘People On Sunday’ performance at Barbican on Nov 6. What do you get when an acclaimed electronica trio collaborate with a “pianist extraordinaire”? That was the question posed by the Flatpack Film Festival, when they commissioned Haiku Salut to work with celebrated Melbourne-born pianist Meg Morley on a new score for the 1930 German silent drama, ‘People On Sunday’. The result, which premiered at Flatpack on May 22nd 2022, was a spellbinding synthesis of Meg’s virtuoso talents and Haiku Salut’s genre-melting brilliance. The Barbican subsequently commissioned a performance of ‘People On Sunday’ for their Cinema 1 space, which takes place on Sunday November 6. To celebrate the London debut of the score, Haiku Salut have reworked a key section of the collaboration to create, ‘Carousel’, a hypnotic dance track which melts intricate piano with pulsing electronica to create a startling synthesis of baroque, ambient and techno.
