The album, which lasts over 100 minutes, is a compilation of demos and outtakes, mostly from the sessions for Quebec (with a small number of White Pepper outtakes and demos). The demos were recorded to 16-track tape, and had been recorded at various locations that included the beach house, Gene Ween's garage, and Dean Ween's spare bedroom. Despite Caesar's popularity with fans and generally agreed-on high musical quality, it was also somewhat infamous in Ween history for a time, as its release was at least partially connected to Ween's 2012 breakup (they later reunited in 2016); Gener was initially reported to have been very upset at the album's release[1], but this turned out to be a hoax by Ween.net Forum users, and Gener's actual reaction was far more positive.
