Michal Leah might be only 20 years old, but the Chicago-born soul-pop songwriter and multi-instrumentalist sings with the wisdom, range, and intuition of an artist with decades’ more experience. Born to a highly musical family, the first-generation American singer grew up listening to a range of artists, both classic and contemporary: Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Daniel Caesar, and Billie Eilish. “'Burn' was one of those those songs that surprised me more and more as the song came together," Michal recalls about the track. "I think the chorus is really what got my attention and made me want to release it. When writing the song, I really wanted to paint a picture of a relationship that is completely one sided that makes you feel trapped as if you’re in a burning house."
