Los Angeles based meija expertly marries indie pop with alt grooves, never steering away from a big hook. The nom de plume of writer/producer Jamie Sierota, the name meija is an anagram of the letters in his first name. Previous to releasing music under this moniker, he toured the world with his siblings in the band Echosmith. Since then, meija’s collaborated with the likes of JAWNY, Hand Habits and Charly Bliss. He released his first full length album as a solo artist, titled Do Ya?, in 2023. His music explores analog and live recording, and taps into nostalgia while creating a sound that’s nuanced, layered and complex. “BUZZKILL” is an indie rock tune with nostalgic vibes. The lyrics explore expectations vs personal truth. Speaking of the song, Sierota says “Sometimes I want to leave things unsaid. I don’t want to make a hard situation even worse. I don’t want to hold onto things but it could seem easier than rocking the boat.”
