The LA-based eclectic duo that make up the new ORNAMENT AND CRIME — Poolside producer Alex Kemp and Grizfolk drummer Bill Delia — stretches both genre and sonic structure to create songs that imbue a kind of dystopian sensuality with a fresh take on the lo-fi indie-tronica sound. Whether the beat is straight or syncopated, Alex describes wanting the dynamics of the songs on this EP to “feel awesome as soon as the kick drum comes in.” Basically, there’s no waiting around to get to the good stuff. It just arrives and never leaves. It’s a refreshing take on the tired roller coaster that is the standard verse / chorus structure.
