Syven aims to create dark, heavy, primordial and even shamanistic music, where the driving force is the traditional Finnish string instrument, the kantele, accompanied by atmospheric synth layering, ritualistic percussion and heavy distortion where appropriate. We also employ a variety of vocals that range from low male choirs to growls to chanting and to shamanistic performances, all of which help bring life to the comprehensive themes of nature, the struggles of reality, the brutality of survival, but also the wonderment and the solemness that lie therein. The album title "Aikaintaite" is Finnish for the passing/turning/folding of time/times. Final album artwork will be very different, promo cover is only temporary. Syven's debut "Aikaintaite" is set for release 12.06.2011. The initiated may have heard early rumblings of Syven with their first song "How Fare The Gods?" being released on a Prophecy Productions compilation late last year. Syven produces a sound scape that evokes the Finnish Landscape, it's nature, forests, lakes and animals. The Shaman, while telling this tale, provides a humanistic aspect through his voice. Also with Syven the voice of nature is incorporated. The lineup includes Andy K-S' seasoned vocal compositions varying from chants to baroque howls and A. Tolonen's unique sound found within the Kantele, which Tolonen fashions himself on his long visits to his cabin in Finland. However Syven is a departure from the meditative pace found within his previous work with Nest.
