Lila Tirando a Violeta and Sin Maldita drop their first collaborative release on Hyperdub. Lila is a prolific producer from Uruguay whose 2022 album 'Desire Path' on N.A.A.F.I was on lots of end of year lists. Sin Maldita is a Berlin based artist who makes avant-garde pop that strikes a chord between abrasiveness and accessibility. His debut album, 'You’re Trouble,' came out in November 2020 on Unguarded. ‘Acella’ is informed and inspired by seemingly unconnected work; the concepts and sound design of the late ‘90s cyberpunk anime ‘Lain’, from which it takes its title, and James Joyce's experimental novel 'Finnegan's Wake'. Here the duo draw away from pop and delve into the language of dreams and digital realities, through surreal and mind-bending scenarios, rendering a rhythmically elastic, intense body of work laced with melody. Taking the concept of collaboration to extremes, the release delves into the idea of 'Idioglossia', inspired by ‘Finnegan's Wake’, where a private language is developed and spoken by a small group of people; in this case, Lila and Sin, who chatter away throughout the release.
