J.B. Arban was a French conductor, composer, pedagogue and the first famed virtuoso of the cornet à piston or valved cornet. He was influenced by Nicolò Paganini's virtuoso technique. His famous method book for trumpet is the most used by students of the trumpet, cornet, and other brass instruments.
