A little Christmas story. Or: why Christmas songs? If someone had asked me two years ago whether Vargo would ever release Christmas songs, I would have looked at them quizzically and clearly shook my head in the negative. Way too uncool. But how did it happen? The key figure in this exciting story is Stephanie Hundertmark, beloved singer with Vargo until 2014. When I asked her some time ago whether there was an occasion on which she could imagine appearing together with Vargo again, she answered quite quickly : “Christmas songs!” Short pause. I’m like, “CHRISTMAS SONGS??!” Oh nooooo…..” So weeks went by and Steffi's answer kept coming to mind. Christmas songs? Are you allowed to do that? And suddenly I had the idea of a Christmas show at the Hamburg Planetarium. It should be called A COSMIC CHRISTMAS. A show to open your heart and get you in the mood for Christmas. With music that is suitable for this. Not necessarily the classic Christmas songs, but maybe a few of them if they fit. So I started looking for good song candidates. Titles that could be dressed up in the sound of Vargo. So on „A COSMIC CHRISTMAS - Part One“ I would like to introduce you to the first two “real” Vargo Christmas songs. “Wintersong”, sung live and accompanied on the piano by Debby Smith at our last A COSMIC CHRISTMAS show in the Planetarium Hamburg and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, sung by Stephanie Hundertmark. May they touch and enchant you, just as the originals did for me. I wish you from the bottom of my heart that you and your loved ones can create a little oasis of love and peace during the Christmas season in this world that seems to be falling apart so much at the moment.
