About Hevisaurus

Country of origin: Finland Location: Helsinki, Uusimaa Status: Active Formed in: 2009 Genre: Heavy/Power Metal, Hard Rock Themes: Dinosaurs, Stories for children Current label: Sony Music Finland Years active: 2009-present Among several Finnish children's metal and hard rock bands, Hevisaurus is the first to release an album consisting mostly of original music. Among the artists performing on the full-length albums are Mirka Rantanen (Thunderstone), Jens Johansson (Dio, Yngwie Malmsteen, Stratovarius), Henrik Klingenberg (Sonata Arctica), Mikko Kosonen (Maija Vilkkumaa), Nino Laurenne (Thunderstone, Antidote) and Mikko Salovaara (Kiuas). Pasi Heikkilä is credited as both "Muffi Puffi" and "Milli Pilli" on every release. A dispute between the musicians (especially Rantanen) and Sony Music Entertainment arose in 2011. Both parties claimed to own the rights to the Hevisaurus name and brand. To circumvent the problems with Sony, Rantanen announced that the band would continue under a new name, SauruXet. The band released a new album under the new name in September 2011 but disbanded in 2012 when the court ruled in Sony's favour. There was a South American version of this band called Heavysaurios, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, active between 2012 and 2022. There is also a German version called Heavysaurus, active since 2017 - both bands perform under exclusive license to Sony Music Finland. The songs are the same, with the lyrics being in Spanish and German, respectively.
