From June to July 2007, Maher Shalal Hash Baz led by Tori Kudo toured Europe, visiting England, Scotland, Belgium, France, Denmark, and Switzerland. Together with McCloud Zicmuse (Le ton mité), who took care of negotiations and coordination for local show bookings, transportation, and accommodations, they performed in 12 cities, with a maximum of 12 members on stage (2 of whom were unknown to the audience) and a minimum of 4. In the meantime, they also recorded their fifth official album, the epic "C'est La Dernière Chanson" in the French port city of Cherbourg. The recording on this 45rpm 12" EP of 16 minutes is the entirety of the performance on June 26, 2007, at a show in le hameau de la Brousse, the small French village of Sers, about an hour's drive from the camp where the group was staying. The equipment was minimal, and the group on that day consisted of 4: Tori Kudo's guitar, Naoki Otani's trumpet and marching mellophone, Koji Shibuya's bass, and McCloud Zicmuse's percussion, which was substituted with cookware gathered from somewhere in the village. The performance was recorded on a small cassette tape recorder with a dying battery that Shibuya had been carrying, but it was forgotten for 17 years after his return to Japan, along with a small notebook in which he wrote down the events and scores of the tour as a diary. The show in le hameau de la Brousse was not originally planned, and was more like a home party than a live concert. The audience, therefore, was likely to be people who did not even know Maher's name. This is a precious record of the night in which the short melodies and rhythms that Kudo wrote during the tour were shared with a little joy, without any prior knowledge. released July 4, 2024 Tori Kudo ...........................................................
