Wenchen Qin: Orchestral Works

Wenchen Qin: Orchestral Works

Four pieces by Chinese composer Wenchen Qin: “Echoes from the other Shore”, written for zheng and orchestra, is based on four central core notes that originate from the folk music of Central Asia. In “The Nature’s Dialogue” for orchestra and audio tapes, on the tapes there is a wide spread collection of sounds of nature from across the world. They form an integral part of the sonorous and compositional structure of the piece. “Across the Skies” is a term borrowed from a Chinese idiom, meaning a heavenly steed galloping across the sky and with a sharp contrast in style, the last piece “Lonely Song”, creates a good deal of dramatic tension.
