《WAVE.DAO》这张专辑灵感来自于探索新城市时的音乐随机播放、90年代的 UK Garage 音乐以及 WADE DAO 在台北成长过程中的舞者经历。这次专辑风格上与WADE DAO 之前作品中的印象派歌词与缓慢循环有所不同，反之，《WAVE.DAO》的节奏感婉如高速汽车追逐——介于一口新鲜空气和一剂肾上腺素之间— —完美适合在舞池上挥洒或在空旷街道上驾驶。 《WAVE.DAO》专辑邀请儿时好友、长期合作伙伴的金曲制作人 rgry 操刀制作。 首波主打单曲《OGTFH》的MV 由WADE DAO 与动画艺术家Gnetiy (张艺腾) 和Melting Part 共同导演和剪辑，带来一场台北舞蹈和音乐场景的超现实拼图，在过去与现在的片段之间的快速切换，似乎在预告着未来即将发生的事... 而我们只有二十四小时可以揭开这一切(we've only got twenty-four hours to find out)。 与此形成对比的是，《LIKE WATER》与 SOWUT 联手打造了一首忧郁的 two-step 舞曲，让人联想到渡轮在翡翠般的水面上滑行，逃向未知的目的地。 《LIKE WATER》的 MV 与 Plack Juice Films 合作导演和拍摄，带来一场梦幻般的旅程，穿越指引我们走向黑暗与光明的潜意识之流。除此之外专辑的 B-Side 也专为 DJ 收录加长演奏版 (extended instrumental) 与 rgry 制作的《KWDGD》remix 曲目。 WADE DAO 的作品核心精神是「动」 (movement) 与「导」 (navigation)：每天我们都必须在海海人生中做出选择——选择人、选择时机、选择时间——就像与这些抉择共舞一般，《WAVE.DAO》是为那些舞动的人们而创作的作品，献给所有在人生中跳舞的人。 由跨域潮流文化音乐品牌Melting Part 共同制作，《WAVE.DAO》将同时推出与台湾街头品牌DeMarcoLab 联名的系列商品、在高空时尚酒吧CÉ LA VI Taipei 举行的pre-listening 派对，由日本ODD TAPE DUPLICATION发行的限量卡带实体专辑，以及由Melting Part 策画的实体概念pop-up 活动。 WAVE.DAO is WADE DAO's newest project–inspired by the musical shuffle of navigating a new city, 90's garage, and learning to dance while growing up in Taipei. The project departs from the impressionistic lyrics and languid loops heard on WADE DAO's previous work. Instead, WAVE.DAO feels like adrenaline–perfect for cutting up dance floors or driving through empty streets. The project is engineered by childhood friend, longtime collaborator, and GMA-nominated producer rgry. OGTFH is the first single from WAVE.DAO: UKG/two-step that feels like a car chase at high speeds–perfect for cutting up dance floors or driving through empty streets. The music video for OGTFH is directed and edited in collaboration with animation artist Gnetiy and Melting Part. It's a surreal tour through archival footage of friends and family, snapshots of the arts scene in Taipei. In contrast, “LIKE WATER” joins forces with new-wave pioneer Sowut for a melancholic cut, evoking images of a great escape, and ferries gliding across the surface of emerald waters. The MV for “LIKE WATER” is made in collaboration with Plack Juice Films, and presents a dreamlike journey through the subconscious currents guiding us toward dark and light. The album also features a b-side that includes rgry's remix of “KWDGD” and extended instrumentals for DJs. At the heart of WADE DAO's work is the spirit of movement and navigation: each day we must map and traverse the sea—of people, of choices, of time and timing—much like a dance with the elements. WAVE.DAO is a project dedicated to the movers, made for everybody dancing. Made in collaboration with Melting Part, “WAVE.DAO” also features a Capsule Collection by DeMarcoLab, a live showcase at CÉ LA VI Taipei, and a limited edition cassette by ODD TAPE DUPLICATION (Japan), and a pop-up curated by Melting Part.
